These rooms don't need many accessories — instead, they each center around an attention-grabbing, black-and white-pattern. Decorated with geometric shapes, bold stripes, and some devil-may-care attitude, these spaces make a classic color combination feel artsy and unique.
While it may not be for ultra-conservative decorators, it's not so trendy that it won't work in more traditional spaces. For example, black-and-white tile floors are classic and often found in older homes. Even just a bit of wallpaper or some patterned cushions are enough to create a new and interesting focal point in a tired room.

Thanks! I've been looking for more black and white wall inspiration to fit into my bathroom!
I love this post! I've never been a big fan of geometric patterns, but I've been drawn to the contrast of black and white lately.
I think every room ought to have a touch of something black and white. That being said...Yikes!...number 5...what were they thinking!
God, no.
These are horrible! How could one possibly sit quietly in one of these rooms and read a book? How could one walk around these rooms without having a dizzy spell and falling down? Black and white tile in kitchen and bath - fine, very attractive. This stuff - yoicks.
These are antithetical to "the soothing rooms" we use for agitated patients on the psych floor... i need a prn just looking at these! :O/
