A little colour, better use of space, some open shelving, and an island help transform CashewHoneyCake's kitchen, which we found on the Apartment Therapy LA Group Pool, from a design and efficiency nightmare into a fun and functional kitchen that looks like a pleasure to cook in, hang out in and eat in. We like the combination of the Stainless Steel elements, the open shelving, the farmhouse sink and the unfinished wall behind it. Deliberate or not, it has the bit of industrial/antique/rustic mix that's been grabbing our attention recently. The "almost clashing blues" are an unexpected jolt; the blue in the cupboard above the sink makes the items look sculptural and almost like a piece of art.
We also like the fact that many of the elements from the old kitchen have been used in the new one: the farmhouse sink has been fitted over the old cabinetry, which has been painted, and the appliances have been moved around to accommodate the new configuration.
