Plaid (pronounced /ˈplad/) is a Scots language word meaning blanket, usually referring to patterned woollen cloth.
Plaid is also American English for tartan.
Tartan is a pattern consisting of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colours.

Tartan can be turned sideways and the pattern will remain the same. On the other hand, plaid cannot. I still fail to see the direct connection to plaid as a pattern.

the way some of the colors subtly go from dark to bright and vice versa is so pretty!

They seem to be modern reinterpretations of the traditional blankets sold throughout Latin America. Nice.

In Europe this type of blanket is referred to as a "plaid" (even here in France). So "plaid" is not referring to the pattern of the object, but the object itself. Hope that clears the confusion up a bit.

Anyone know where to buy in the states? The pillows are available at Rose & Radish, but they don't carry the blanket - I would pay anything for the blanket!!!
