They know what looks good. Dominique, who has a master bedroom to redecorate, wants white doors, lavender on the walls, and possibly some vertical stripes, while Rachel just wants to funk things up a bit. According to a recent Boston Globe article (registration may be required), the latest group to be bitten by the home design bug? Tweens.
According to Samantha Skey of Alloy Media + Marketing, the idea of customized rooms is driven by technology, and the notion that the Web 2.0 experience of being able to intensely personalize one's experiences via iPods and web pages drives the trend of tween decorators. Personally, we think maybe watching Dads and Mum paging through a half dozen shelter magazines each month might also have something to do with it.
What do you think? Do your kids want to design their own living spaces, or are they content to let you do it for them? Have you let them? And how do they do, design-wise?
