We don't have a hard copy in our hands just yet, but we saw online that Chicago magazine has broken down our local parklands. Compared to the nine other largest U.S. cities, Chicago has the least amount of park space (AND "Chicago ranks third lowest among all 56 major cities"). Read more park statistics and trivia here.

We're looking forward to seeing the rest of the issue, which has a lot to say about the South Loop.

That's so sad...LA doesn't do much better in that department either. Fortunately, San Diego is just a small drive south, and I can attest that city has an amazing park system. Less commercial spaces, more parks!
Logan Square & Avondale need more park space—we've got lots of kids around here!
Although it's not green space, we're supposed to get a skate park, and it would be nice to have a dog park, too.
And more trees/greenery along Kedzie and Milwaukee would be good...sorry, don't want to go all landscaping crazy, just wishing...
Is the hard copy only available in Chicago?
I would love get a copy before I relocate in July...
sysuh...we're not sure. check their website and throw them an email or phone call.
good luck with the move!
sysuh, it might depend on where you live now. i'm pretty sure i've seen it sold in michigan.
Thanks heather and katie...I am calling them up!
Sophie.
Wow, park space is directly proportional to lameness of the city. Interesting.
Just to let you know and to follow up on my comment,
I called them up and they will send me a free trial issue!
I just have to cancel it if I don't like the trial issue,
but I think it will come in handy, being new in town.
Thanks again for the posting, Heather!
