Cottage Living is packed with holiday inspiration!
Starting outside, they give us festive ideas of using faux snowballs to decorate our window sills (pg.31). There's also an entire article on using light - in a classy way - to turn the dreary outdoors into a winter wonderland. See above as net lighting (meant for bushes), hanging orb lights, and over scaled glass ornaments turn an out-of-season patio into softly lit centerpiece (pg.45).
The fun continues indoors...
Inside, we see the standard wreaths and garlands. There's also painted branches in vases and a heavy theme of white roses (pg.19).
CL isn't complete without a make-over. This issue delivers with an above-garage storage room turned post-graduate "apartment." The angled ceilings are charming and the color palette (introduced on the stair risers, at right) is rich but still boyish (pg.20).
To remind us that this is the season of giving, CL partnered with major names in the building business to give one Mississippi family a home for the holidays. The three-bedroom cottage, which replaces the FEMA trailer the Swainer family has been living in since Hurricane Katrina, is built atop piers to elevate it above advised flood level (pg.103).
Last but not least, there are snacks! CL staff share with readers their favorite holiday recipes: Apple Cheddar Scones, Hen & Dressing, Hushpuppies, and Classic Brisket (pg.110).
