Blogging The Sacramento Bee: Theme Bedrooms

An article last month in the Sac Bee featured a father who built a realistic replica of a firetruck as a bed/storage unit combo for his son. Check out all of the details... There is a PA system, scanner, Blaupunkt stereo, real working siren (yikes!) and lights, ladder, decals, hardware and even shiny automobile paint. The firetruck bed even sits on a mat that looks like the floor of a fire station. The father didn't overlook any details.

In his daughter's room, this talented father built a dollhouse-like cottage complete with a shingled roof and frong and flower boxes outside the "windows."

The set of double doors open up tot reveal a Murphy bed. He even painted the ceiling blue, added a tree and flowers on the walls and strung up a hammock as a reading nook. So why go to such lengths? The father explains: The bedrooms in houses these days are so small, the kids hardly have room to play or turn around by the time you putin a bed and dresser. This gives the kids a lot more room. More pics are available here. What do you think - over the top or too much fun?
