Blogging the Seattle Times: What It Means to Live in a Green Home

Saturday's Home and Garden supplement in the Seattle Times, Digs, included this profile of Bennie and Ed Sata and their certified-green home in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood.

In addition to a precious few tantalizing pictures of the house where, at the height of summer, electric lights are not needed until 10 p.m. due to clever window design, the article includes a helpful rundown of the elements that make a home green. Specific elements include that the home be energy-efficient, conserve water, utilize recyclable or durable materials and consider overall site impact.

We were also fascinated and delighted to learn that more than 20 percent of new construction in King County in the last couple of years has been certified Built Green.
