We haven't been to the new Yoshi's yet, but after reading about the architect in this weekend's Chronicle we're determined to make it down to at least check out the space. One of our favorite things to do is take ideas from commercial spaces and apply them to residential interiors, something made all the easier when you have an architect like Hiroshi Morimoto who works in both fields. For example, we think the modern see- through noren (traditional Japanese fabric room divider) in the doorway above would look great leading into a dining room.
On this same note, it was especially nice to see photos and read about both residential and commercial projects that Morimoto has worked on - we'd love to see photos of the award-winning house in New Zealand the article mentions.
