Blogging Western Interiors & Design Magazine

To be honest, I've never really looked at Western Interiors & Design Magazine. I always knew it was there, but was never motivated enough to pick it up. However, something was different about the February/March 07 issue. It turns out that it's because they've gone through a major "redesign", which also happens to be a big part of the content in this issue. "reDesign" is also the name of the HGTV show that designer Kenneth Brown hosts. This issue features Brown's own redesign of a loft space he purchased in Santa Monica. I always find it interesting to see a designer's own personal space...

As expected, his loft is beautiful and luxurious, but more interesting is that facat that one kind of forgets that it's actually a loft. In the article, Brown is quoted saying "...I think the definition of a loft is changing, especially in California." What's also inspiring is that he's mixed a lot of very affordable pieces (such as items from Target, West Elm, etc...) and achieved a very high style look. Click here to heck out the whole piece and see more pictures online at the Western Interiors website.

Other things of note in the issue:

pg.103: A fantastic editorial on the swanky cool Valley Ho hotel in Scottsdale, AZ (AT:Chicago did a post about it here)

pg.110: A feature on the LA home of Jennifer Kates, who is half of the mother/daughter team behind the design firm Postobello

Overall, some good stuff work flipping through. I think the redesign has been successful and I love the fact that it concentrates on featuring design in the western region.
