Blomus, the maker of all things stainless steel has a nice humidifier that looks good and is priced right. Looking more like a water feature than a humidifier, that is exactly why we would consider it for our currently humidifier-less home.

how does this work?
Unfortunately, this product is beautiful, but not pet friendly. When I look at this, I see my pets faces buried in the trough.
Seriously, these are gorgeous (another here http://blomus.com/blomus.php?l=en&a=detail&i=65189&p=1) but does anyone have any idea how/if they work?
Unfortunately, this is just another passive humidifier like the wooden "mast" humidifier. It's basically a fancy bucket.
I realize that this is a design-centered blog and that products are often featured because of their beautiful looks. Obviously, aesthetics are important when it comes to home decoration.
However, a well designed tool not only looks good but performs its function. I can hide an ugly humidifier behind furniture, but I can't magically make a passive humidifier actually output more water without another, better humidifier.
If it were sold as a planter, pet water dish, etc., it would actually perform well and by combining form and function be well worth the cost. As a humidifier, it only gets halfway.
