In spite of the fact that we recently declared giraffes the next big thing, we're still standing by some oldies but goodies, like birds in the kids' room. This blue canary night light brings the motif into the nursery or bedroom with subtlety, so you can keep your giraffe wall mural, too.
Of course, we have to mention that if you or your kids are fans of They Might Be Giants, this might be the best room decor element ever. You, too, can have a "blue canary in the outlet by the light switch," watching over you, indeed.
The Blue Canary Night Light has a sensor eye, so it only turns on when it's needed, dimming and brightening as the ambient light changes. We love the soft blue color, too, which is a nice alternative to standard white night lights. The LED light means that it uses only $0.25 of electricity... a year. Not too shabby.
Available at Amazon for $14.99. You can get all your favorite TMBG albums there, too.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Please correct me if I'm worng, but haven't blue & green LED lights been found to disrupt sleep?
Does anyone know a dim, non blue/green night light. The $1.50 target ones are too bright, the little Ikea ones are too bright, too. I'd like something simple and dim, any ideas?
And now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head all day long. :)
I just showed this to my husband (who loves that song) and he was SO stoked.
I agree that the LED lights are a little bright, but my kids have gotten used to them. The one they found truly disturbing was the one that changes from red to green to blue. That one actually freaked *ME* out in the middle of the night. Blue, I have no idea about, but I know my husband's alarm clock with big blue letters drives me nuts at night so you might be right.
Yes, i know what QueenofTheFall is referring to - there was recently an article about tricks to getting a good night sleep, and it mentioned something about digital clocks with Blue digits keeping you awake more than ones with red....
I think I'm going to order it regardless, because it would look great in my son's nursery, but I must admit, this knowledge that Blue light may disturb sleep IS sort of lingering in my brain too!
It looks like the twitter bird.
Awesome!! it looks lovely. I do wanna have one such in my home.
