Blue Mega Dinnerware from Royal Copenhagen

Earlier today, we featured an image of Royal Copenhagen's Blue Fluted Mega dinnerware pattern in the New York Open Thread — we've recently become slightly obsessed with this hand-painted pattern after seeing it in person at both Williamsburg's Scandinavian Grace and the new Williams-Sonoma Home store at Columbus Circle...

In 2000, Denmark's Royal Copenhagen began producing a new dinnerware service based on its classic Blue Fluted pattern that has been in production since the company's founding in 1775 (this is the pattern at the left, in the top image). Known as Blue Mega, the new design by Karen Kjældgård-Larsen enlarges and abstracts the original pattern — and even uses the hand-painted signature of Royal Copenhagen as a design element:

Produced in the same shapes and sizes as the original and by the same techniques, Blue Fluted Mega can be mixed in to supplement the original service. This adds an amazing historical reference and practical functionality to the collection! The Mega pattern is also available in Black.
