Bogobrush is the brainchild of brother and sister team John and Heather McDougall (a designer and a lawyer, respectively, and the kids of a dental family), who wanted to bring environmental and social awareness into people's daily routines. Like the TOMS of the dental hygiene world, for every toothbrush you buy, the company will give one to a person in need.
Their product, Bogobrush, is a 100% biodegradable bamboo toothbrush with a simple design and stylish dip-dyed handle. For each toothbrush sold, Bogobrush will donate a toothbrush to one of their Give Partners, which includes charities and community centers that provide dental care to the needy. Eventually, Bogobrush hopes to partner with more organizations all over the country, so that your purchase will actually help someone in need in your own community.
Offered as a single purchase or a one-year supply, Bogobrush hopes to sell 10,000 units by year's end. The product will ship in March 2013, but you can pre-order yours today and contribute to a worthy cause.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Biodegradable is a term with no legal meaning, sadly. The FDA only regulates the term compostable. Bamboo is a nice plant but it's usually sold from monoculture plantations where forests have been cleared for the one crop. I'd buy an electric toothbrush and keep the small replaceable parts as long as possible. Selling 10,000 of any priducts is not eco-friendly, no matter how many dental patients get a donation.
