There are so many different ways to add color in the bedroom. While some of us are pretty shy with color in other rooms, this might be the place to go wild. We think the bolder the better — no matter the color. So the moral of the story today, go big or go home to bed!
I've always loved all white bedrooms because they provide a super clean atmosphere that is most definitely on point with a good nights sleep. However, I'd be a liar if I said I didn't appreciate serious color in the bedroom as well (I just can't decide which one I love more, honestly).
Black walls are slowly becoming a norm for decorating dare devils and we think it's a great color for the bedroom, especially if you like the room dark for sleeping. If black is a little too bold for you, try a step lower with navy blue — it can be really sexy and dramatic. And if dark isn't exactly what you associate with bold color choices, so try bright orange or a cool teal.

White Enamel Flatwa...
The last room is a little frenetic, but only because of that blue/turquoise rug on the right.
Love the 4th and 5th pictures! I've been working on adding yellow to our master. We'll see how it turns out!
Most people I know would look at that 4th bedroom and think a poor person lived there.
I look at it as beautiful minimalism. The only thing is clipping your shin on that bed frame would really suck!
@selftaught - I was thinking that too! Those cinderblocks would really, really hurt.
@selftaught - I thought the same thing. But thinking about those cinder blocks on the floor makes my toes curl.
I spy Circus Peanut orange!
I love black walls but I don't think I have enough guts to implement it right now! Maybe some more "studying" aka browsing different design blogs and magazines will do the trick!
In all seriousness, I love the full room treatment of black, but I think a single black wall is more practical (as seen in slide 4).
5 rocks my half-socks. I am trying to conquer my fear of adding color/texture to my (soon to be) bedroom without painting/wallpapering.
@HernandoHouse: I also love the 2nd pic from your link the same reason.
Didn't I just see this post in another city listing as which color do you prefer, light or dark, in the bedroom?
The first is close to what we have, except our ceiling is white. It's great for falling asleep.
@Gaidig: I thought the same thing... and #2 is my favorite! A tad Circus-Peanutty, but really more terra cotta. It may be grasscloth or some other textural paper. Either way, I love it with the black and white.
On a general note, it seems funny that people hesitate to use color in the bedroom. The bedroom is the most personal space in your home, so that is the place to follow your heart. And deep, dark, saturated color is so sexy. I’ve always wanted a red bedroom. Hot.
#4... I like that cinder block bed! And the simple light fixture!
