We're thrilled that Chesapeake Home has brought us into Stephen O'Brien's Maryland abode. He's a delightful designer who knows the art of giving traditional DC design just enough contemporary edge, and we're happy to see he's put this talent to work in his own home which he shares with his wife, Eileen Deymier.
Antiques pair up with contemporary artwork and clean-lined furnishings for a look that seems to be emerging as one of DC's preeminent styles. O'Brien calls his own home, "'soft contemporary'....contemporary, but not minimalist." The style blend is also helped along by his use of loud contemporary colors — oranges, acid green — set against deep, updated traditional hues like tomato reds, charcoal grays, and chocolate browns. Deymier describes the house as "a big swatch that shows [guests and clients] how it's really going to feel living with bold colors"
