Oscar night always gets us thinking about new, fun ideas for easy bonus seating. These rolling tree stump stools are so cute; while we're not sure how practical they'd be at an actual table, as pictured here in Loft Life (spotted on the fabulous Happy Mundane), they'd be great to have around for a few extra seats. What do you think?
It's fun to think about other items you could stick casters on to make them easy bonus seating: milk crates? ceramic garden stools? The tree stumps with the casters, from the home of Paul Falla, have a little humor and a little edge, which is always a welcome combination.
What do you think? Even if the tree stumps aren't your thing, do you like rolling stools as a bonus seating option?

So cute! (And not just because of the kitty.)
One word: SPLINTERS. That's *one* way to keep your dinner guests from outstaying their welcome.
They are awfully eye-catching though. And as I always suspected, cats can be comfortable anywhere!
does they kitty get mad that he can't get a good claw into the thing that's rolling away from him?
We have a similarly sized log serving as a table/stool in our kids' room, and splinters aren't a problem. We just sanded the top, gave it a coat of varathane, and it's good to go.
Ooh la la. I love the rolling table and chairs.
Ahh....stools AND scratching posts!
they kinda look like they'd tip pretty easily -- but if that's not an issue, I like them ---
I think they're cute. Another great option (and something I use for all of my furniture)... felts. Big, thick felts would protect the floor and the stumps could be moved anywhere.
i LOVE that table! i dig just about anything on big ol' castors.
the stools are okay, not the most practical (they look a bit like clothing snaggers). if they were stripped of bark i think they'd be safer for your wardrobe, although that would change the look considerably.
Too funny. I was just thinking about doing the same thing for my dining room, only with smooth slab sides, sealed to prevent splinters and bugs.
These would be easier.
chiasso and west elm have a few different styles of these without the casters and without the bark. i prefer the texture visually of the rough bark, but agree they could do some damage to clothing or bare legs.

Rolling stools are fun if you have the room (and hard floors) but I personally prefer folding chairs that can be stored out of the way. Ikea has great, black ones that are comfortable and super cheap.
Those stools are fine if you're wearing jeans, but the bark would totally snag & pick at any number of fabrics. I'd be unhappy if that was my only seating option and I was wearing nice clothes.
I'm not opposed to rolling stools in general. I suspect rambunctious kids might be a tad dangerous given unfettered access to them, though.
