As you can see, there's no one right way to pull off the look. There's...
• The custom version, offered through companies like WoodfoldThe intense DIY barn style door bookcase taken on by our very own Rachel Grad, pictured in her house tour (picture 6).
• The 3D bookcase facade as seen in Lorin's New York house tour (picture 4), and Charlotte Lekakos of Willard and Palmer's closet door from her room in the Charityworks Greenhouse this fall outside of DC (picture 2).
• And then there's pure illusion like Style Your Door's graphic decal (picture 5).
What's your favorite?

White Enamel Flatwa...
There's something about this that brings out the inner kid in me - nothin' like a secret passage... or three.
On the other hand, I'm all for opening up a house/floorplan, and this is almost like doing the opposite.
I think the perfect middle ground would be giving this treatment to something like a closet - you still get your hidden door without the whole "it looks like there's more to this place from the outside" sentiment.
Love those doors, but my house would never lend itself to "hidden rooms". If I had a Victorian to remodel, though, it would be tempting.
I love these almost as much as the AT post about the armoire with the hidden room behind it...wacky and wonderful! Thanks for taking inspirational risks for us. :)
I agree with Sherry. If I had a huge old house to renovate I would definitely hide a passage or two. The bookcase doors do not seem very practical though. A sliding bookcase may be better.
Just fabulous! I would love to have a whole room for books (rather than just an overstuffed second bedroom...). All it needs to be absolutely perfect is a window seat.
my house has tons of hidden rooms, about 5 when i moved in, but updating it in one room like picture one is definitely something i've got to do this year.
