What better time than the 4th of July to update our list of home furnishings manufactured in the United States! Since we last looked at the list, we've made some trips to High Point Market and the Hickory Chair Showroom - both North Carolina stalwarts - and we've heard from our community of readers about companies we left off the list.

White Enamel Flatwa...
I am a firm believer in keeping things as local as possible. I would like to throw in a shout out for the Original Mattress Company. My hub and I purchased a new mattress set a year ago and not only was the mattress made locally in our city but the box springs were made in a town 20 miles from my home. However, with that said, I have to admit that while shopping for new living room and bedroom furniture, even though I live in NC not 60 miles from High Point, there is no way on my budget I could afford any of the local retailers. I ended up at Ikea. Be careful also; even though they may be made in USA, a lot of the fabric and woods used in US made furniture are actually sourced in from China and points beyond. Again, I live in NC, the furniture capital of the country and I know a lot of these retailers.
RNTRAVELGNOME, Your post reminded me of when my husband and I moved to High Point in 1997. We were young and eager to update our new apt with furniture from the Furniture Capital of the World. We were so clueless and shocked to see that most of the stuff cost more than we made in many, many months. We ended up buying our living room furniture from Aaron Rents. Looking back, it's so funny how naive we were and how we must've looked going to some of those showrooms...
I live in Boston and took the bus to and from New York one day to buy our couch and a chair at Room and Board. My mother-in-law tsk-tsked me about why I couldn't just buy furniture in Boston. There's no place like Room and Board!
Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams
The Company Store
I'll add Copeland Furniture in Vermont. Their extension tables are really smart.
I have several pieces of Room and Board furniture that I have enjoyed for many years so far. They are an excellent company to deal with. However, it must be pointed out that they do also import from China. Three cheers for Pendleton (blankets), too, and Stickley (I have a few of those, too, and my only regret is having to order through a particularly snobbish decorator/salesperson in "one of those" furniture stores). Vitamix ... absolutely worth the money. Kitchen Aid, All Clad...ditto. Heath Ceramics, yes. Gel Mats, no, I'm sorry to report, I have not had a good experience with those. Modernica ...marvelous, but you often need patience (delays in production). Thos Moser ... impeccable.
I'm so happy to see how many things I have that are American made!
@Snowdogmaine, I believe the Crate and Barrel sofas mentioned in the post are Mitchell Gold.
Dunno if this was in the original list, but Mosser Glass is worth mentioning.
Herman Miller - shocked they were left out!
Can I add Gat Creek (http://gatcreek.com/), producers of "solid American-made furniture"? They're based in West Virginia and make beautiful pieces.
Thrive Furniture is made in LA! http://www.thrivefurniture.com
I'd like to recommend Duckloe Brothers colonial-style furniture in Portland, Pennsylvania. It's a locally-owned shop that's been around since the 1800's. Beautiful furniture that's extremely well made. They also do reproductions.

Jeffco might not be producing goods with the AT aesthetic in mind, but their furniture is well made in NC.
The Company Store? Most of their stuff is "imported," and, in my experience, the quality was poor.
Emco should be on this list.
@cobalt blue: CS down products are made in Wisconsin. I've found the quality to be good.
Wellness Mats are made in the USA. Similar to the Gel Pro Chef's Mats already listed. http://www.wellnessmats.com/
Antick Furnishings in Lambertville, NJ. (Not far from NYC or Philly) Furniture and built-ins custom-made by a master craftsman who uses only American-grown wood. Reasonably priced, and it will last longer than we will!
Heywood- wakefield is still made in the U.S. of A.!
Rowe Furniture makes their furniture in their VA factory.
Pottery Barn's sofas are made in the USA!
Great list. We just bought some furniture from Room and Board and the experience was excellent. Great quality. Beautiful wood. Very good customer service.
Checked this post for the sole purpose of seeing if Thrive was on there -thankfully, someone at least mentioned it above (and yes, I'm mentioning it again)!
Planning to buy my first chair from them once I make the final upholstery choices - they are all so beautiful, I'm having a hard time making up my mind!
There are many that were left off the list, here are a few I know off the top of my head:
Kincaid Furniture
Comfort Design
The Custom Shoppe
Thief River Linens
Hunter Douglas
The Natural Light
Windward Designs
Also, Pyrex glassware and Fiestaware is made in the US. Our turquoise place settings still look great after 2 years of everyday use. It's hard to find sturdy dinnerware still made in the States, would definitely recommend Fiesta.
I believe that all of Flexsteel's home furniture is also made in the US.
ohio design is all designed and made in san francisco, great design, great materials and craftsmanship, great people. http://ohiodesign.com/
Canopy Designs builds all their chandeliers in Long Island City, New York.
Nice list! I would also add Clore in Madison, VA. http://www.eaclore.com/
How about broadening with a new category for building products like Marvin Windows & Doors?
Thanks for the info, but this list would not be complete without Carolina Chair. Check out there website. They are a family owned business.
