There's no shortage of beautiful handmade Thank You cards out there, but they tend to be on the pricey side. With all the parties and gifts to give thanks for this time of year, we tried to come up with some simple DIY card ideas that would be unique on the cheap.
1. Make a Word Garland: it’s unexpected and all the more charming for its handmade imperfection. Cut 2 sets of letters out of colored paper or card stock and glue or tape them together with some silver thread in between. Leave a tab at the top to make the garland easy to take out of the envelope.
2. Photocopy Some Letters: books like Dover’s Early Advertising Alphabets, Initials and Typographic Ornaments provide tons of interesting alphabets and borders that are free for use. Even if you don’t have a scanner, you can photocopy the letters to size, cut and paste them into a layout and copy them again onto some nice kraft card stock.
3. Use Stamps: any craft store offers a range of alphabet stamp options which look great on a quality sheet of paper. We like this simple customizable stamp from Staples or this sweet one from MUJI (which we could unfortunately only find on their UK site).
There are tons of sources for good paper, but one of our favorites is Paper Presentation, which offers excellent quality folded and flat cards.

Thank you cards and blank notecards are pretty cheap at places like HomeGoods or TJ Maxx. I bought a set of 16 adorable bird-themed cards for $5.
