A Historic Seaside Hotel Goes Green (& Modern)
Little Compton, Rhode Island

One of the best things about living in Rhode Island — the smallest state with 400 miles of coastline — is that you are hardly ever more than an hour’s drive from some pretty darn glorious beaches. But for anyone not lucky enough to live nearby, get very excited about the opening of the historic Stone House hotel, located in one of our favorite seaside getaways, the town of Little Compton. The landmark estate, built in 1854 was extensively renovated with the aim of preserving the property’s history while incorporating green technology like Integrated Photovoltaic Panels that provide 100% of the property’s lighting requirements when the sun is shining...

The interiors were designed by 3Six0 Architecture and each bed is covered in a custom quilt by one of our favorite textile artists, Denyse Schmidt. And before we forget, the view is just flat out amazing.

It's beautiful, but that's not exactly a historic interior anymore.

I've never understood why people will take the time to preserve old buildings and then completely deface the interiors.

They should have taken a look at the English beach cottage pictures here on AT before diving into a modern decor. They had such a treasure and have messed it up.
