KissinNewOrleans1.jpg

It seems the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) is switching things up a little. What was previously known, for the past 28 years, as the December Sale has been recoined the InsideOut Gallery. The sale, which showcases...

...the work of hundreds of "established and emerging artists each year—including internationally known SMFA alumni and faculty, current students, and affiliated artists", began November 19th and continues through this Sunday, November 23rd. The sale "has become the largest public art sale in New England, grossing over $1.1 million in 2007" and partial proceeds go to fund SMFA scholarships.

I love the birds/music piece. Do they have an online sale?

It's too bad this sale doesn't make art a little more affordable especially the student section, which for the large majority is extremely mediocre (I'm being nice) but still priced between $500-$1000 per piece. The teachers pieces are mostly out of most people's price range (several thousand to several tens of thousands.)
