From the French "Coup de Coeur" loosely meaning, "a strike to the heart," Koo de Kir is located on the flat of Beacon Hill, just half a block off of Charles Street. Every time we step inside we take a deep breath and relish in Koo's restrained palette and meticulously curated collection of modern goods — a welcome break from the tourist bustle and pricey antique stores of Charles Street...

With large windows on three sides this tiny one-room shop is a jewel box of home furnishings and accessories. The collection is very modern but with a timeless quality and emphasis on beauty vs shear function — a trait that makes it feel right at home alongside the many antique stores of the Hill.

The palette is always what gets us: elegant neutrals everywhere with a focus on glass and white ceramic goods. This lovely petal nesting bowl really caught our eye. Koo de Kir is a great store to visit if you're looking for ideas to integrate traditional with modern. And don't be intimidated by the upscale feel of the store — there's actually a good mix of affordable items here and we've always found the folks very friendly (they even let Bacon come in and sniff around).

For those interested, Koo also offers interior design services. More on Koo de Kir here.

Beautiful, well curated objects for sale. The store needs to be bigger!

Beauty vs sheer (not shear) function. Unless it's a hair salon.

The stuff in here is just too overpriced. Look elsewhere unless you are desperate for a last minute gift and willing to pay extra to avoid thinking one up.

oh LORD! I used to work here in college when it was on Charles Street...Black Ink too. At the same time. Good to see Kris is still doing well! Working at Koo de Kir definitely fostered my interest in interiors and home goods.
