It's inspiring to see everyday materials re-purposed in a new way. Add industrial to the mix and we'll take two! These quilted canvas coverlets and throws by Utility Canvas were inspired by vintage movers blankets. They're soft, cozy and great with kids and pets...

Utility Canvas's coverlets and throws are washable, sturdy, and garment-dyed so that they match just about anything. They're great to snuggle up with on your sofa, in bed, use in the car or out on the porch on chilly nights. We have a blanket in the charcoal color, and its washable, soft, and when we're at work, it keeps the pet hair and cheerios off the sofa. This time of year — when it's not on the couch — we take it everywhere. Throws and comfy bed-sized coverlets are available online from Utility Canvas or you can buy just the throws from auto.

I've been looking for a warm, pretty throw for our futon, but $125 is more than twice what I was hoping to spend on it. Does anyone have any recommendations for a less expensive option?

These are cute, and I love the perky colors. However, these are "inspired by" and not "repurposed."

I seem to remember a famous interior designer in the late 80's who would use these as wall tapestries and to upholster simple tuxedo sofas and french gilt bergeres.

These look better in a photograph. I looked at these a couple of years ago and they are really expensive for what they are and how they are made.

I totally agree with "wild-er." I read that comment AFTER I had already ordered my teal utility throw from Auto.
I was so completely disappointed. The stitching is white and is very visible against the teal fabric and is not appealing.
I am horrified that I spent $125 $18 shipping on a measly blanket.
Worst of all, I couldn't return it for a refund--only for an exchange or store credit.
