What inspired you to use color? I am an art teacher and a painter so color is my world. My inspiration comes from the beautiful world around me. Whether it's a simple leaf that fell at my feet, a tea bag wrapped in colorful paper, a shinny brightly colored car that passes me on the street or a color mixed by my 2nd grade students. Sometimes its more than just the color that inspired me, it's the intensity or the hue that whispers in my ear. Color fills me up like I am part of the canvas that is my home. I just wish I had more than 366 sqft to paint on...
Color Tip: Using color properly comes from experimentation. If you do not experiment you will be doomed to living in a dull world.

Fall Colors Introduction -------------------------------
Welcome, everyone, to our Fourth Annual Fall Colors Sharing & Contest. We're looking for the most beautiful & colorful home in the world and sharing all of the great ideas we get with our readers. This year we're amping things up and hoping to do things better than ever. There are two basic phases, the Sharing Phase and the Voting Phase...
1. Sharing Phase - you comment, judges decide

2. Voting Phase - you vote till you drop
Starting October 20th, finalist voting will begin on a daily basis through our new bracketed voting system, which will pit our 16 finalists against one another until only one remains. Sound exciting? We hope so.

I see lots of little pictures - but no big overall pictures of the spaces - and the little pictures seem kinda cluttered...
...however I do like the bookcase stacked on the desk to make for a little work area - That's pretty creative.

Just an FYI...The pictures are as wide as I could get. As the post reads the place is 366sqft (its REALLY small) so I am very space challenged. I also took the pics in the summer so the place does not have the fall feel it has now. Its far too messy with my paintings everywhere to clean and take new pics! Thanks for the comments though. I have been reading AT for so long but never posted anything before....and Jasmine the cat is a big ham.

Well, I thought the ottoman in the corner with pillows was a great small space idea. I might use that one. And I'm envious of the fireplace (and kitchen counters--swoon!). But I wish there were more bold use of color!

it looks very inviting and comfortable.
i, personally would use more bold colors but thats just me.
Jasmine is beautiful, he didnt knock the flowers off the headboard, did he?

Wow. Under 400sq ft? I would never have guessed looking at these photos. You've done a great job of making the space seem much bigger.
I think your place is gorgeous. The colors work very nicely in this space. I like that they are colorful, but not overwhelming. They work WITH the space, rather than overwhelming it.
I really love your bedroom. That dark bedframe against the light blue wall and the breezy white curtains is such an inviting scene. I could spend all day there reading a good book and drinking tea.

For such a tiny space, you really have excelled with color - especially how you considered your furniture and fittings. (Nevertheless, because you have some lovely fabrics, art, etc, ruthless editing would take your apartment to a whole new level.) The very lovely Jasmine would HAVE to stay, of course ;)

The paint color in the living area is Behr its called Pecan Sandie, the kitchen is very close in color its RL- Loft. Behind the kitchen stove and sink area is now a black chalkboard all the way across to the fridge. Thanks for the lovely comments.

you have successfully overcome the dismal color that many refer to as real estate beige (landlord beige, rental beige, beige malaise, etc)! in working with such a small space, it's quite commendable that you didn't succumb to WHITE for gawd's sake, "to open things up." (peeve!) your space is beautiful, rich, and lush with understated color reminding us that some things don't need to be shouted to be effective. xo
