We love this neatly aligned Polaroid grouping and how it wraps the corner in closertotheocean's living room. She also had a great idea coupling it with a single, large piece of art—perfect when you can't put holes in the walls.
The no-holes-needed art continues in the bedroom where she has created a frameless collage of pictures and magazine clippings. So don't let the rules get you down! More of closertotheocean's apartment here.

I used to make collages from magazine clippings in my bedroom. Now I am considering doing that in my apartment which does not allow paint (so frustrating!). I'm not sure if that would look tacky in a living room? I suppose it depends on how it's done.

rockypondgirl - i'm using that sticky putty stuff they sell at CVS and the like. it's just this white-ish putty-textured stuff... i think 3M makes it. you pull off a little piece for each corner, massage it between your fingers until sticky, and go nuts with it. i would caution against using it on anything you're afraid will get stained... there is a little bit of grease showing through in some of my clippings, not others. the polaroids are don't have any problems.
mary jane - go for it! i'd like to see what you come up with... i'm moving right now and taking everything down. i think some of it i will frame and some of it i will make an inspiration collage with over my desk.

not my idea of art on the walls---might be nice in a kids room. Kind of like being forced to watch slides shows years ago. Sorry!

poptart... as far as the stuff in the bedroom goes, i don't really consider it to be art on the walls either.

closertotheocean- yeah I should. If I come up with with anything cool looking enough I should post it on flickr or something. What I had in my old room was a big collage of all things fashion. And another one with lots of French inspired pictures. I think when you are surrounded by the things you love, your place becomes a relaxing retreat since it reflects you.

i use artists tape to hang stuff on my walls - they sell it at dick blick and michael's and stuff, and it comes in varying widths.
sometimes it takes a bunch of pieces on the back to stick things up, but it doesn't mess up the walls or the stuff you're hanging (usually - i'm sure if you had really thin paper it might rip). but it's good for polaroids!

To avoid sticky-tack/BluTac grease show through on your paper stuff, I've been using first off, for the corners a white tacky label like you'd get to show the price in a shop, or from Staples, then some of that sticky-back clear film we use to cover books in the UK (not sure about the US?) and then use your sticky blue tack :o) and the grease won't spoil your prints.
I'm also pretty sure there's a product - MAYBE baisic isopropyl alcohol, but don't quote me on that, google it first - that removes the grease stains from walls, I spent a LONG time in bedsits and so appreciate the need for leaving no mark - if you don't want to lose your deposit, that is...
