Mae Mougin Ceramics

Its great when typically overlooked parts of things become extraordinary. Like the hand shaped and paddled edges on these ceramic pieces by Mae Mougin Ceramics. We had first read about her work in the May issue of Domino, and were happy to see some of Mae's pieces sold locally.

The other week we were entranced by Mae's work on the counter at Tess & Carlos in Newton. Mae Mougin is a Parson's graduate who has been selling her playfully organic bowls, plates, platters and individual pieces for 10 years. In person they have a delicate, sturdy quality thats impossibly charming. While they're not cheap by any means, they would make great wedding or special gifts and their china-white translucency would perk up a winter table. We particularly like the china-like egg carton and the fluted edges of the "paper" plates.
