Q: I was wondering if someone could recommend a good and inexpensive upholstery shop/person? Thanks!

I'm about to start my upholstery project and I was told to go to Zimmans in Lynn. You can check their website at zimmans.com. I have not gone yet, but I was told they have an amazing selection of fabrics. My impression is that the store is not cheap. For really cheap fabrics (but perhaps not the gratest selection) try Sewfisticated in Cambridge or SewLow Discount Fabrics (www.sewlowdiscountfabrics.com)

Zimman's is wonderful for fabric and upholstery work, but they are not inexpensive. Budget fabrics can be found at Freddy Farkel's in Watertown. I hear they also do upholstery- worth checking out!

I always use Freddy Farkel for all my client projects. They are inexpensive and will pick up and deliver any pieces! Their work is perfect!! They have fabric at the shop or you can bring in your own, if you have a picture of the piece they will tell you how many yards you will need

Post on Craigslist. This may sound like self promotion, but I reupholster on the side, and found most of my clients on Craigslist.

Hi Anna

first of all, that is such a gorgeous piece of furniture. I'm not too crazy with the fabric but the chair is beautiful. Came to us and we will give you a good advice for that lovely piece.

We know how to make good upholstery!
