Furniture Disassembly Service in NH?
Good Question

08-18_GQ.jpgQ: I'm in desperate need of a recommendation for a good furniture disassembly / reassembly service in southern NH. I have a leather couch from the 1970s that I LOVE, but I'm renting a house from my father in law and he adamently refuses to widen any of our interior 23" doorways. The only way to get the couch into the room is to take it apart...

I know there are many companies in NYC, but I'm having a difficult time locating someone who does it in New Hampshire. Please help! Marissa

Editor: This is not Marissa's couch, its just what comes up when you search "moving sofa" on Flickr. How on earth do you ride a bike with a couch on top? Anyone in NH have a tip on movers who will disassemble and reassemble a sofa?

Consider pulling it through a window instead...

this almost always requires a knowledge of upholstery. call an upholsterer.

Marissa here- Unfortunately, the windows are tiny (23-24" wide) and we're renting from my father-in-law who will not allow us to take down any window or door frames so that won't work. :(

However, I did call an upholsterer who managed to hook me up with Melo & Sons Upholstery (http://www.meloandsons.com/) who are coming to our house tomorrow to HOPEFULLY disassemble and reassemble our couch. Fingers crossed! I'll post an update tomorrow!

Marissa here- Melo & Sons were AMAZING! They had the couch disassembled and reassembled in under two hours! It's now in the living room and looks amazing! I'm so relieved. I HIGHLY recommend them! :) I took a few photos, check them out: http://www.flickr.com/photos/21086669@N00/sets/72157622085065180/

Where do I find the kind of bicycle used in the picture to haul the sofa? I can use one just like it to move sound equiptment when I do street performances.

TracyJ- Sorry for the delayed response, I just noticed your comment. The whole thing cost $400, which wasn't too bad, considering I got the couch pretty much for free (all I had to pay was $150 to move it to my old apartment when I got it). Totally worth it! :)
