I am looking for a long, 6 draw dresser to replace one I currently have from Room & Board. The current dresser is great but I have to return it due to defects, and now they discontinued this style! I am looking for something similar, especially in the width at 70". I am very interested in finding an unfinished piece I can paint myself, but most of the ones I have found online are not long enough. I am not against a finished dresser at this point, but I am looking to stay under or around $600. Ideas? Thanks! Megan

Are you dead set on something new? I see lots of long dressers at thrift stores. If you're going to paint anyway, they may be a cheaper alternative than a new piece.

I see dressers that look like this on craigslist all the time. Definitely for under $600.

You might want to try having something custom made as well... I'm not exactly sure how pricey it would be, but for something without stain/varnish, it would be considerably cheaper than a finished piece.

IKEA has several 63" wide dressers, ranging from $179 to $399. Not exactly the same style as you are looking for, but definitely affordable!

Thanks for the ideas -- I am not set on something new, its just that I dont have time on my side since this dresser is being removed from my apt soon... so I can't really just wait until a good one comes along at a thrift store/craigslist. I'll def keep my eyes out though!

I've seen some 63" wide dressers at IKEA, but I don't think they have the same style legs.
Perhaps you could get two narrower dressers and display them side by side?

ebay is also a good source for vintage pieces.

If it's the super long sleek top you are mostly looking for, I once had a collection of chests the same heights, then a friend made me a solid piece to go over top all three and it was a very cool effect. Sorry no pic.

Look for a vintage Paul McCobb dressers. They are out there for a fair price. If you live in LA you can check out Denmark 50. Wayne would have what you want.

I was in the market for a long dresser too. It needed to be 60-70" long and a good height for TV watching (I wrote a review). About a month ago I checked out overstock and found one. Under $500! I just looked and unfortunately it's sold out. Not sure if you'd like the brown/black color? I hate even posting about it in case you do like it :(. But maybe they'll bring it back, or you might find something else at overstock? Good luck!
Now I am having the hardest time finding a King bed to go with it.

I third the notion of going to thrift stores. Salvation Army always has dressers like this - for $49 or similarly ridiculous prices. The people who bought these the last time they were in style are dying off, and their kids are cleaning house and donating the pieces.
Just lightly sand, prime, and paint, and you can have an idea dresser for super cheap. Replacement knobs help restyle, too.
Between having this one removed and finding a new one, couldn't you put stuff in cardboard boxes for a couple weeks, while you find a cool bureau somewhere?

Just as an example of the great finds you can make: I swung by Salvation Army in Haverhill this morning. (Always looking for cool finds there.) There's an old bureau down there that's about 60" wide. Looks more or less like this:

I might have the center door handle wrong - can't remember if it is one door or two. There are six large drawers, and then three small lingerie drawers inside the door in the middle. A very handy piece!
This has a few dings and what not, but it could be so great repainted and reused. I think it was $24.99!

It's finished and dark, but C&B's Loop 6-drawer dresser otherwise fits the specs.

Huh. Turns out there's also a light version.
