Good Questions: Source for Discontinued Ikea Curtains?

07-01_GQ1.jpg

Hi Apartment Therapy, I just moved into a new 1 BR apartment in Cambridge, MA from a cramped Manhattan studio. With the bigger space, comes more windows and I was looking for these sheer white curtains with an organic branch-like pattern I purchased in Ikea a while back to further decorate my additional windows. It seems like these curtains are discontinued so I was wondering if anyone knows the name, where I can purchase discontinued ikea items or even know of a similar curtain with this pattern, I would be totally grateful! Thanks so much! Warmly, Lauren

Ebay and Craigs List are usually the best bet for discontinued Ikea items. Anyone else have a tip on this curtains, in particular?

For the name I would suggest looking through past catalogs (check at your local store at customer service) as those are not very old. You might also be able to call a store or the 800 number and, if you get someone knowledgeable, they may be able to give you a name with a description. I want to say those were introduced in maybe...2004-2005 Most IKEA textiles are introduced in a "line" with the same first word in the title. So, if you're looking through a catalog and see other textiles that look similar, the first one or two words would be a good start.

However, even with the name, there is no "official" source for discontinued IKEA items. eBay or craigslist is really your only option.

Try ikeafans.com. You might find a lead on a pair there or you may try making a make a post indicating you are looking for a pair.

I just found them on ebay when I searched for "Inez Kvist" only-- not under auctions but stores.

I was actually going to send in a very similar question, though I think the curtain i want is about 5 years old. I'll try ebay though.

OHHhhh I have those in my living room and I can't imagine anything else in their place. Love them. I bought mine in April of 2006.

It's off topic, but where did you get that headboard? It's gorgeous.

I'm in for Ebay. It's amazing what you can find there in the discontinued dept. I have a Johnson Brothers ironstone that was discontinued 10 years ago. Thanks to Ebay, I now have enough for a small wedding!!!!!!!!!! Very cute place and welcome to the area!

I have these exact curtains! My landlord left them in the master bedroom. Unfortunately, one of them has a tear in it, and I couldn't be sadder.

There's tons of fabrics with that sort of pattern. Go to Joanne's or whatever's close and see what'll coordinate.
