Sleek & Modern Bed Recommendations
Good Questions

10-21-modern-bed.jpg
Q: I'm buying my first home this month and I'm in need of a bed. All of the headboards I find are too gaudy and don't fit my requirements for something clean, modern, and simple. I've always loved Miranda's bed in Sex In the City, but I can't find anything remotely similar online. Any ideas?

Editor: Matt — you should look at the options from Room & Board and the Octave Bed from Crate & Barrel.

Who else has suggestions?

Check Overstock. I bought a great platform bed very similar to the one pictured with a honeycomb pattern in the head- and footboards in a brushed stainless finish.

I second the Ikea Heimdal. It's very similar to the bed in the picture.

I got one almost exactly the same in the UK, available in dorm or double etc, but MFI sold it to me and I think they have closed down now. But it did exsist at one time, and it was pretty cheap.

I love the look of Heimdal, but caution against if you don't like squeaky...

I think Miranda's bed WAS the Room and Board Portica. I love it because it's not overdone or oppressive.

Yes, I came in here to say the Room and Board Portica too, and it's beautifully made.

The Blythe bed from Macy's looks pretty sleek and modern: http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=386261&CategoryID=35527

We looked at the Portica from Room and Board, but it was really, really, quite tall. We got Copenhagen - we love it! Simple, clean, and modern.

Thanks for your suggestions! I'll have to consult with the other half, but we'll definitely be getting one of these.

We have the Anders bed (http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/product/detail.do?productGroup=19060&catalog=filter&menuCatalog=room&menuSubcategory=191135) by Room and Board and love it. Clean, modern, but still warm.

It's not the Portica, but it's made by whoever made my bed:

Only $271 and well worth the money.

It looks very similar to HEIMDAL, I own it and yes, there is bit of noise - you must play with the screws from time to time.
