apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Where Can I Find a Similar Style Bed?
Good Question

2sanctumsohodesignhotels_1.jpgQ: Hey Apartment Therapy, I saw this room a while ago (I believe it is a hotel in London), and was wondering if anyone knows what the style of this bed is called and also where I may be able to find one. Thanks! Posted by Andrea

Editor: The whole room reminds us of something from Brocade Home, but they don't have beds like this. Anyone have a tip on ornately carved beds?

The style is properly called "Rococo" although online sellers of vintage items in this style will often hang the sobriquet "Hollywood Regency" on such pieces to capture more attention. Vintage pieces might be painted, but are more often unpainted or gilded.

There are still retailers that sell brand new imported Italian Rococo furniture - Typically unpainted, of course.

The style is sometimes called "Louie the Hooey" -- it's a non-specific French Rococo style.
