Hanging Mirrors in Front of Windows
Metropolitan Home

10-design-trends-MH1009-ESQ.jpg

We are obsessed with mirrors — and we're obsessed with windows. So imagine our delight when we spotted this clever mirror/window hybrid design in the pages of Metropolitan Home.

We spotted this bathroom in the October issue of Metropolitan Home. Sure, the implementation is high-end and we don't necessarily love the two mirrors — but the idea could easily be translated. Perhaps the only spot you can put a bedroom dresser is under a window but you also really want a mirror above your dresser. You could hang a mirror from two chains from the top of the window frame. Granted, we'd be hesitant to cut out the slice of light that you'd lose by hanging a mirror in a window. Still might be fun to try.

Have you ever hung a mirror in front of a window?

hahahaha I agree with Archie.

It's silly. There's a reason why people don't hang mirrors or paintings in front of windows... becuase it looks a little odd from the inside, and it looks very peculiar from the outside......

No no no.

And that hat/wig head is hilarious. Looks more like a... you know... than a head.

Everything in this bathroom seems horribly impractical.

Although Archie is so very right, I kinda like it anyway.

This is horrible. I'm sure you can walk around but it looks like you have to step over the tub to get to the vanity and you are blocking the view with those mirrors.

I grew up in a house that was built in 1900. The house had oversized double hung windows. In the main bathroom we replaced the bottom portion of a window with a mirror on the inside and textured glass on the outisde. The window was right above the sink and as a child I thought it was the coolest thing ever!

Birdablaze, I bet the editors @ Metropolitan Home didn't catch that one!

And the room just doesn't feel right to me.

What a mess. I remember thinking the same things when I first saw this in Met Home. The mirrors are the worst part though, they look like huge versions of the cheap make up mirrors with the fluorescent light around it from the 1980s. The tub is totally in the way. Also, who wants to have a sliding door to the bedroom from the bathroom? It's like they really wanted all the elements and forced it into the small space.
