It could just be that we like to see things done a little differently because it inspires us to build off of an idea and apply the concepts to an alternate situation. We spotted this unusual shower curtain set-up on a personal blog called Chronically Uncool. (We like the blogger's tagline: "I make things. This blog documents my projects and motivates me to finish them.")
The inventor used a curtain wire from Target, separated drapery clips, and lamp chain cut to size. She compares the functionality to hospital curtain tracking systems but much cheaper.
While respecting this blogger's "thinking outside the box", we'd love to hear any of your own shower curtain rod inventions or modifications.
Oh, and for our own shower rod we're probably going to stick with the 'ole rectangular shower rod set-up that hangs from the ceiling...
I wouldn't necessarily use the whole set-up, but since I just moved into a place where the curtain rod is screwed into the wall almost too high for a regular curtain, it gives me modification ideas.

I will think about doing this... I have a big tub under a skylight and the current setup looks kinda trashy with extra-long shower rods on both sides of it (it's a jet/spa-tub with a crappy box built around it..any water that gets out of the tub pretty much ends up in the basement). I can't do the rectangular-rod-from-the-ceiling because of the skylight... but something like this could actually work. it might look kinda weird but would still look much better !

Well, it appeals to us. We think the use of the ball chain is very innovative. We love it that the Diginet hanging systems is flexible enough to allow you to surround any shape. We can see using this system to divide off a bed in a studio without having to resort to expensive custom sheers.

i did something similar using the system from a hospital supply store- a track with metal chain hangers for the shower curtain. it was easy to install. And nice and clean as the curtain could be pushed all the way around to allow access and openess when using the tub.

I think I would rather just have a very very long shower curtain hanging from that rod.

I have something similar in my bathroom. I have a ceiling to shin height window in my shower. gives awesome light, but also interesting views for the neighbors. I didn't want to cut off all of the light... I love to look out the window while showering. So I used stainless steel twisted wire to bring the shower curtain to the perfect height so I could see out, but was covered from the neck down. Have had the system for a couple of years now and love it, though my guests are sometimes startled...

Reminds me of hospital dividers in emergency rooms, I kind of like it!
