Hot or Not? Global Bath Tub by Hidrobox

5-12-hidrobox-tub.jpg

Even though we certainly don't have the room for one, the Global Bath Tub from Hidrobox certainly is a looker...or is it?

Spanish designers, Roviras and Torrente created the Global to be built-in or partly built in to the floor. It's made from a seamless composite and measures 190 x 120 cm. The Global tub is available in white, cream, brown, gray or black.

How much water does it take to fill that thing?!

That looks really uncomfortable, which kind of defeats the point of a bath tub. And, I'm with Swordspoint, it's going to take an unconscionable amount of water to fill it.

this is a "not" but for different reasons than above.

ditto to all above. for me, if i was going to be so blatently "un-green" (is that a word????), it would have to at least be comfortable.

It looks like one of those molded styrofoam inserts that come in the boxes of electronic products.

I think "un-green" is 'red'. Can we coin "red design" for things that are decidedly 'un-green'?

Even aside from the "ungreen" part, I wouldn't want to pay for that much hot water!

Aside from the 'asylum' setting that it's in, I love the tub.

All it needs is a few jets so I can enjoy a whirlpool bubblebath....

I think that bathroom is bigger than my entire apartment. Regardless, I think this tub is gorgeous, with enough room for two ;)

How do you get in it? A high reaching step onto a wet smooth surface seems like a bad idea to me. And my toes hurt from thinking about how awful it would be to stub them on that harsh platform. I don't mind the way it looks in a showroom setting, but I don't want one.

No tubs included, but great new products from the 2009 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show:
