Cocktail umbrellas turned home accessories. Dipped in phosphorescent paint, the umbrellas glow in the dark and have the affect of Chinese lanterns when lit. North Attleboro designer Heather Wells created the lamps based on an award-winning prototype developed while she was at the Rhode Island School of Design. What do you think?

I'm trying to imagine an interior that this kind of lamp would fit. Might be a little too happy for my taste.

Pretty cute if you are short of funds and saddled with a hideous light fixture screaming out for cocktail umbrellas.

Like it as a diy-post-cocktail party.

It has a 60s-70s vibe to it.

Would be amazing in a Hawaiian themed room or tiki lounge, but I can't fathom where else I'd use one.
I guess little umbrellas are tacky no matter where you use them (unless they're for your Barbie).

It's cute, but there's no way I'd have it in my apartment.

It seems like more of a one-off party decoration.

I am surprised,but I like them.
They are very reminiscent of those 60's /70's faux stained glass swag lamps.
I wouldn't have one in my home, but might appreciate them in another.

Pretty. Maybe not for my living room, but I think it'd look cute in a little girl's room, in place of those ubiquitous colored paper lanterns.
Or a fun DIY project for a dorm room. I had friends in college who did a tropical theme doom. That's the fun of dorm decor--to try out something you wouldn't want to live with forever.

Why not go the whole nine yards and make a complete sphere? I think it'd look a lot classier (like a nice paper lantern as opposed to an umbrella dome).

they look really, really cool when on - love the faux stained glass effect - but kind of like a pile of junk when off.

Cute, but not for me.

I think you mean "effect," not "affect."
(If you did mean "affect," then the wishy-washy designer talk has gone way overboard.)
