Name: Kibwe (interior designer) and Emily (fashion designer)
Location: South End, Boston, MA
My roommate, Emmy, and I recently renovated our street level condo in a South End townhouse. My style is masculine and modern while hers is feminine and eclectic. To keep the space cohesive, we kept the color palette simple and we strategically mixed our artwork and possessions in the living/dining areas. We found low cost and imaginative solutions that transformed the space. We replaced the bulky closet doors with drapery and stained the plywood substrate in carpeted areas to continue the look and feel of the beautiful hardwood floors in the living room. The patterned accent wall in the living room is actually a stencil designed by Emmy. The entire design is infused with both our styles and is proof that different tastes can exist within a home.

i've never seen such a cohesive home created by roomates... you're to be congratulated!

The floor in the first photo is stunning. And the aesthetic that you both have come up with is warm, inviting and cozy. Well done!

The chocolate brown curtains in the bedroom are delicious.

The stereo is not a car stereo, we concealed the speakers next to the fabric covered bar. The curtains are Merete from IKEA - 100% Cotton, only $40 for the set - I purchased 3 sets because I think drapery looks best when there is volume.
