Boeing 727 Hotel Suite in Costa Rica

For those of you who were intrigued by our last post about vacationing in a refurbished plane, here's one more option, this time in Costa Rica!...

Hotel Costa Verde recently introduced a two bedroom suite in a vintage 1965 Boeing 727 in a jungle in Costa Rica. The suite is encased in teak paneling and furnished with handcrafted teak furniture. The plane is situated on top of a 50 foot pillar, promising guests delightful ocean views. For $400 - $500/day (depending on the season) this suite can be yours! The plane easily sleeps 6 people so if you divide the daily rate between that many folks, it's actually an attainable dream. Of course there's the expense of getting to Costa Rica, but we'll let you figure out the details on that one. For more information, click here.

(For those of you who watch LOST, isn't the opening photo eerily reminiscent of a certain small plane hanging precipitously in the jungles of well, um, wherever those castaways are?)

I don't get how I'm expected to feel comfortable in/around something that is reminiscent of a downed airplane.

This hotel is in Manuel Antonio, I am very familiar with the area --

If you want the experience of hanging out in an old plane without the price tag, the sister to this plane is a restaurant across the road. It's a fun place to eat or get drinks, although the food of course is very touristy. :)

Totally getting the plane crash/Lost vibe - so much so, I'm not really able to enjoy the interior shots.

too bad the interiors are all wood and ugly!
they completely missed the opportunity to have a cool, minimalist interior paying homage to it's previous airline life. perhaps serving carts as nightstands and bertoia bird chairs...

I've eaten here at their restaurant and I must say I love it. Manuel antonio is one of the prettiest places to visit here...and everyone knows to eat at the plane!

Hey, I've seen this before! They have a restaurant too. Travel tip: Stay in Quepos instead of Manuel Antonio, and take the 40 cent bus ride over the hill to Manuel Antonio. You'll save about $100-200 a night. ;) http://www.poweredbytofu.com/2009/02/28/cocodrilos-en-paraiso/

I wonder how they got it there......by crane? Must have cost a fortune. And was totally worth it.

The teak is the deal breaker for me. Love the teak.

The reuse factor of the body of the jet respects an age.

And of course the flora and the views ...

I want to live there!

Thanks for the window into this special place.
