Box Shelves from Frank Roop's Portfolio

Box shelves reoccur throughout a few of Boston designer Frank Roop's projects, and we can't blame him. These shelves, like floating shelves, have no visible fasteners or supports. And they provide a storage surface on the interior and top of the boxes, making them appear akin to built-in shelving.

Unlike floating shelves, box shelves like this are strong. They can hold quite a bit more weight than, say, an IKEA Lack shelf. Plus, they're easy to construct and install yourself, making them a much cheaper option than built-ins. See more at Frank Roop Design + Interiors.

Nice, the visual effect of the grouped shelves is almost Donald Judd-esque.
