i have a chalkboard door in the kitchen/my bedroom

what no one ever mentions is that you will inevitably rub up against it and get chalk on your clothes :)

I agree with bepsf and dosergirl!

For me a chalkboard wall or a chalkboard anything is ridiculous, unless you are some kind of scientist or teacher who really needs to work on it at home, then it MAY be ok, otherwise, its kinda silly.
I may be the minority on this one.

I find using a chalkboard a lot more responsible than sheets and sheets of paper that'll get tossed in the recycle bin or shredder box...

Enough with the chalkboards already! The whole thing strikes me as a forced march back to childhood, something I left behind a long time ago.

Another smart trend beaten to death by overuse.

i will say that i LOVE my chalkboard and here is why....
i live with 5 other people...ie a roommate situation of 6 people. we can write notes to eachother and you know everyone is going to see it, cause it is right there in the kitchen! bills need to be paid, wash your dishes, have a nice vacation.whatever, it is great. i would never want to use that many post its

chalk dust is always on my black hoodie though, and that is troublesome

2004, or 1994?

ENOUGH with the chalkboard stuff. It was cute when it was all over Met Home and such in the '90's. Like most child stars, it's all grown up now and not so cute anymore...

I think chalkboard paint is the official religion of Apartment Therapy. All the lost souls need to take chalkboard paint into their hearts. It's the only path to salvation, I mean cure.

I love the ability to be able to change art when I feel like it. I also love flat, matte black and white colors. I don't see why everyone hates chalkboard paint, its not necessarily the medium that makes it so much fun, its the ability to be creative without having to hang art (that you might get sick of). It allows you to change the feeling in a room without buying anything. Its as interesting as you make it, and it also looks crisp, tailored, unassuming and modern just black, with nothing on it.

I"m with you patrick, I don't understand what all the backlash is. Are people criticizing the art on the chalkboard above, or the fact that he drew it with chalk? Because its the cheapest way he could have done it that big, and he can change it whenever he feels like it. I think it looks great. Would people have criticized the drawing if it were framed and done in oil paint?
