We've always been captivated by the rare phenomenon of converting modes of transportation into more permanent dwellings (e.g. buses, train cars, boats being turned into homes). But we'd never heard of a plane being forever grounded for the purpose of housing anyone...
Let alone travelers to Stockholm, Sweden. But that's exactly what happened to Jumbo Hostel, a former Boeing 747. The hostel is located at the Arlanda Airport in Stockholm.
The Jumbo Hostel made this year's Metropolitan Home's Design 100 list, which praises the year's most notable designs.
The hostel includes 25 bedrooms (85 beds), and 9 bathrooms. Fittingly, the cockpit of the Jumbo Hostel is reserved for the honeymoon suite!

I drive by this baby pretty often, with lots of travelers in the family needing to be dropped off or picked up at Arlanda, and have been so curious about it. Cool to finally get a peek inside - thanks for the post!

Bepsf--don't travel much? Many international budget hotels offer double beds for couples and we'd need to push two beds together ourselves (or vice versa, traveling partners pulling two beds apart).
