Villa Peet: Conceptual Living With a Sense of Humor
Boston

woonkamer_01.jpg

What's better than an elegant house with a clear concept? Architectural photography bringing that concept to life with a little artistry and a lot of humor...

Villa Peet in Lelystad, The Netherlands by Studio Klink was designed with Alice in Wonderland in mind. By creating contrasting spatial experiences they were able to create clearly defined spaces which allude to continuity while forcing you to move through compressive, contrasting spaces—i.e. "rabbit holes"—on a journey through the house. Sound a little cerebral?

If you don't enjoy the architects' rigor and restraint, how about the clever photography of Lars van den Brink that brings both the house and its concept alive, making it accessible to all. Hard lines of clean architecture contrasted with little white bunnies everywhere—what's not to love?

The rigor of the architects and the humor of the photography help remind us that we should always take our design efforts seriously but we should never take the results too seriously.

Ugh. That concept. What a headache it gives me; the same headache I always get from pretentious, overly-intellectualized, bullshit concepts from architects. (sorry, I just got finished dealing with one [and his God complex] this afternoon).

I, however, have absolutely nothing against adorable bunnies. Yay for them!

I can see all the kids in the hood trying to steal a bunny for their collection late at night---it could become a real fun thing to do for adults also. After a few bottles of high priced wine. Are they real bunnies in the shots or are they fake and like this all the time?
The photo's are kind of cool and I do love bunnies!

Not crazy about the bunny. However, my all white cat and my all black cat would fit right in and we'd like to call a place like this home.

Hehehe, my bunny would lay like the one in front of the fireplace. So cute!

not crazy about the rabbits. they seem happy (flop! explore!) but that doesn't really look like a safe environment for them---not to mention those baseboards look very tasty...
