We visit a lot of design stores and too often we're met with an air of arrogance at the door. But stepping into Lekker was a welcome break. The space is chock full of products — from tableware to lighting and furniture — but it doesn't feel overwhelming. It also doesn't feel familiar. The lovely Lekker folks take pride in having an unique perspective on design and offering collections you won't find everywhere else. The absolutely stunning Ethnicraft furniture collection is a great example.

We're big believers of experiencing design in person and Lekker clearly works hard to create a wonderfully down to earth experience for anyone who comes through the door. Pick things up, have a seat, open doors and drawers, and interact with the designs. Say Hi to the staff (as they are likely to simply let you be, which we loved) and you might find yourself in a wonderful conversation. Maybe its the South End vibe or maybe it just stems from being a small business but the store is irresistible and definitely worth a visit.
