As someone who has occasionally assisted with professional photo shoots and art-directed some photography, I found this pendant lamp by Henny van Nistelrooy both inventive and smart — the pendant chandelier is made from collapsible light-reflecting disks...

A common tool in any professional photographer's arsenal of transportable equipment, the discs are made from a reflective metallic fabric stretched over a wire frame. The round wire (or plastic) frame can be folded upon itself (much like a collapsible tent) to make the large disc smaller for transport.
The Flashmob pendant looks to use about 8 of the reflecting discs in it's construction. This is a great idea and could be a fun DIY project — a single 32" disc can be purchased for less than $12 from MaxSaver. And if you wanted to create a HUGE light fixture, 43" discs are about $30 from Amazon.

It's like a disco ball for the new millenium. Dig it.

I love it! It's clever and funny, but also beautiful in its own way.

"This is a great idea and could be a fun DIY project", Sorry, are you joking me? This is the most disrespectful publication towards my intellectual property I ever experienced. There seems to be no consideration towards my creative work and investment of time and money in to product development and production of this piece. How do you think a designer can make a living with "journalism" like this?
I think a rectification and apology is in place.
