Kathleen Hills: Cluster Pendant Lights
Boston

We love the look of things that are similar without exactly matching. Lots of house tours we've seen on AT showcase this style by painting or upholstering mismatched chairs the same color or with complementary fabric. These simple, pendant lights from Kathleen Hills achieve that comfortably mismatched look too. They could be elegantly displayed over a kitchen island or a long farm table, or click after the jump to see the unique chandelier they make in clusters...

These lights (called "cluster lights") come either strung together in groups of 4, 8, or 16, or are sold individually. And they're made of bone china so they give a fantastic, translucent quality when lit. You can buy them in black, and with several color choices of a lovely satin flex cord. We've been inspired by these lights as a chandelier for a while. Since we realized that you can buy them individually, we're now thinking of installing 3 of them for a clean, warm look over our kitchen island.

Of course if you're going to hang 3 or 4 of these in a line, you're going to have to do some major rewiring, ie have 3 or 4 junction boxes installed. Ugh. Or have a rat's nest of plugs and wires running along your walls and ceilings. No thanks.

Oh, these are beautiful! Also very expensive, but inspirational nonetheless. The black ones are especially cool.
