Look! Chalkboard Paint off the wall
Boston

One great thing about chalkboard paint is that whatever you write or draw on it can change the mood of the room. This tall antique cabinet was a Craigs List find last winter-- it used to hold boots, hats and mittens, but on its move into the bedroom this weekend we wanted to make it a bit more personal. Click after the jump for more information on how easy it was to add a memory to it.

Our 7- year son Sam wrote an amazing poem last year that his teachers were blown away by. We were so proud too. He makes us proud every day, but I wanted to write his poem on our *new* towel cabinet so that he'd see how much it meant to us as well.

All we did was paint the cabinet with chalkboard paint and write the poem with chalk. Spraying it with a clear topcoat would seal it and make it smudgeproof, but in our case we're pretty sure we'll replace it with a new masterpiece pretty soon. It would be a fun idea to write a recipe on a cabinet in a kitchen, a poem from a wedding on a bureau or a passage from your favorite book all over your bookcase.

I absolutely LOVE this! I don't have a spot for anything like this at the moment, but I am for sure keeping it in my design files for something in the future!

Thanks for sharing!!

hah, I always go to the mainpage of AT, and when I came across this, I just about died. I was about to pick up chalk-board paint for this vanity/desk type of piece after work... but wasn't sure how it'd turn out. I think I might just have to go back and get it after seeing this post now!

My teeth hurt and I get chills when I think of actually using the cabinet. It looks cool, though.
