We were in this old New Hampshire Town Hall getting a marriage license and couldn't get over the powerful simplicity of the turquoise blue and buttercup yellow trim framing the interior of creamy white walls and wood benches.
The practice of painting bright colors on trim and doors rather than walls isn't something you see too often anymore — although this is technically the same painting concept most people do default to when it comes to the exterior of their homes (neutral siding with colorful shutters and doors).
We don't live in a historic setting but if we did we would definitely reference this painting guide from Historic New England via California Paints. If you're interested in more New England color facts, check out Jeanine's post on blue porch ceilings.
That shade of blue is one of my favorite colors.
The concept of applying intense, saturated colors on a neutral background works wonderfully in an apartment setting--most renters are stuck in bland white apartments that can't be painted, so adding accents like this would be ideal.

Lovely mixture : that particular blue, the natural wood seats, and white.

I love that shade of blue too - reminds me of the Prussian Blue in Mount Vernon.

Congratulations, too!
Also, New England is one of the most beautiful places on earth, interiors and exteriors alike.

I love NH. The mountains are gorgeous, and the foliage in the fall is something everyone should see before they die.
