Look! Fireplace in B+B Bedroom

Our bedroom is freezing — consequence of being a poorly built addition with little to no insulation — so the idea of having a fireplace at the foot of our bed is the ultimate in winter sleeping luxury. When we tied the knot this fall we spent a few nights in this adorable B&B carriage house where the highlight was undoubtedly the thermostat-controlled fireplace...

We’re not really gas log folks but we’ll admit the modern convenience of knowing the fire would turn itself off (and back on in the morning) was highly enjoyable. Anyone ever stayed at a B&B with a fireplace in the bedroom? Or do you have one in your own bedroom? If so, how do you feel about it in warmer months when it goes unused? We’re on the fence about having one in our own home but definitely relished our experience for those few days.

The Colby Hill Inn is in Henniker, New Hampshire and comes highly recommended if you're looking for a great B&B in southern NH.

I worked at the Old Mystic Inn in CT during high school and part of college. There are wood-burning fireplaces in 3 of the guest rooms and gas fireplaces in 2 other guest rooms. There is also a large fireplace in the main common area. They're wonderful for a cold, New England evening!

I love, love, love fireplaces and i think that having one in the bedroom is a great idea. It is so beautiful and romantic and it creates a special warm look (even if not turned on in the summer).
I just left a comment about that on the Valentine's Day sexy room post. You can take a look here and see some of my favorites:http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/159/list/Romantic-bedrooms--great-not-just-for-Valentine-s-Day-
or just browse there by yourself to find many ideas for bedrooms with a fireplace.

A fireplace, a big comfy tub, and a bookcase? You'd never be able to make me leave.

I don't know, I rather like being able to pile on blankets during the winter to add coziness. There's something about being a little bit cold that allows me to sleep really well, without interruption. When it gets too warm, I tend to toss and turn a lot and untangle myself from the sheets.

But a bath tub in the bedroom? Now we're talking.

Fireplace, maybe -- gas only (who wants to clean a wood fireplace in a bedroom?) or maybe a gel fireplace, just for looks (not heat). Bathtub -- gods, no!
