Look!: The Delight of an Atypical Perspective

_MG_1812.jpg

Many of us are cutting back on our consumption right now. One of the upsides of this phenomenon is the chance to reignite the romance with the things we already own. Accidentally (we'll describe how, below the jump), we discovered this delightful atypical view of an object that we look at every day from a different angle. Any guesses as to what the photo above is?...

We were lying on the floor of our home office yesterday, playing with our dog, Arlo (an activity that usually takes place on the living room floor), when we looked up. We were instantly enchanted by seeing something we see everyday from a completely new perspective. The something is...(any final guesses?)...an Urban Outfitters chandelier that we use more as a mobile.

Were you able to guess what this was before it was revealed? Are there objects in your home that you've happened to see from a different perspective and it's given you a new appreciation or inspired you to change how you display it?

Lovely. Reminded me of the Nelson Ball clock at first. I love seeing things from the dog's perspective, ha ha.

I figured it was a light fixture, although I didn't picture it looking like that... my next guess was a glass of cocktail swizzlers, from the top.

One interesting thing to do is to look at your space in a mirror, holding it in front of you, and trying to imagine the reflection is an actual room, with everything backwards : the whole feel is really odd, since you recognize things but the space gives a whole different feel.
